Truth be told, Ruby isn’t the most tolerable person around, but he does have things to make up for his lack of social skills. For example he is quite PATIENT when is required to be –he doesn’t mind waiting and he’s not one to pressure you to hurry either. Just as long as he knows the situation is made better off by waiting you’ll actually have him complying with the simple request –it’s hard to see him in any kind of hurry at all. This also means that he can be quite LEVEL-HEADED when required and because he’s so hard to make panic or stress he is probably the one to turn to when the situation requires some sort of emergency back-up plan. Both patience and calm are probably two characteristics ideal to have in any trainer which is probably part of the reason he’s so good at battles –it obviously isn’t because he has friends to spare.
However, Ruby tends to be a LOGICAL being and will normally reserve his true judgment until he has all the facts in order, sure he’s rude, but he won’t think you rude until he knows for sure why you’re being snarky with him (he isn’t slow, he just likes to make sure of all his facts before he acts). So it might be wise of you to not take his sarcastic comments to heart –it doesn’t mean he dislikes anyone he’s just being his idiot self. He can also be extremely OBSERVANT when speaking with people or solving puzzles making him quite adept at making a logical decision, though of course since he tends to be so sour towards must people his decision can be biased, hey! No one said he was completely fair.

Most probably don’t have the patience to deal with someone like Ruby, though rarely his intentions are negative ones he normally makes it so most people prefer to give him a wide berth and has a tendency to make situations worse on himself. For one he is extremely BLUNT, he’s not afraid to tell you what he thinks, in fact Ruby seems to have no filter whatsoever, whatever that pops into his head he says out loud, most times without even considering the consequences even once. For example if you come visit him from a long day the first thing he’ll probably blurt out is “you look like hell,” which in turn probably doesn’t help the person in feeling better at all. Patience is the key to dealing with Ruby, truth be told. He also tends to favor biting SARCASM when in conversations, in fact it almost seems as if every day when he wakes up he looks picks up a notebook and writes down all sorts of sarcastic comments he could use in a conversation, because it probably comes up every three to five comments while speaking to him which makes it incredibly difficult on both parts. This also brings up another aspect of his personality, because, truthfully Ruby CAN’T TAKE ANYTHING SERIOUSLY, which would probably explain his sarcasm. The situation can be dire –lives can be at stake and you’ll find that he picks up exactly the worst time to provide an unhelpful sarcastic reply.
With all that in mind you can probably come to the conclusion that, overall, Ruby tends to be extremely RUDE to any and all, most times without meaning to. The rude remarks and sarcastic comments come naturally from him, keeping in mind that he has no filter. Thus making it quite easy to distinguish when Ruby dislikes you, it’s not like he makes it a secret, then again if you’re easily offended it’s probably not a good idea to keep him nearby. Of course all this doesn’t mean that he isn’t entirely devoted to his Pokémon, in fact, far from it –it seems that only around them can he keep some manners up, of course keeping in mind that you shouldn’t expect the same treatment with any other Pokémon –only his own. This tends to make him quite SELFISH, because really, every now and then he tries to be helpful but it doesn’t exactly work out for him. He isn’t the gallant knight in shining armor that would exactly sacrifice himself to save anyone, because really, when it comes to someone else or himself he rather prefers having Ruby around. The only way anyone could spot him making any kind of heart-warming sacrifice would be towards his Pokémon, of course they are probably the only ones that would do the same for little rude him. He is also a very PROUD individual, but not towards his good deeds (not that there are very many) but rather towards his Pokémon, in his eyes there’s no better group and you better not challenge his opinion, even if they are defeated he doesn’t loose hope in them and is quite determined to keep his team healthy and in good spirits.
To no one’s surprise Ruby also tends to be extremely STUBBORN once he has made up his mind and good luck trying to change it –this guy is literally as stubborn as a mule. But perhaps reasonable arguments and a lot of patience can change his mind about something, however you might have to stay talking to him for a long time. He’s also fairly APATHETIC about everything to the point of being UNCARING, it doesn’t matter to him what you think of him, it doesn’t matter if you admire him, it doesn’t matter if you despise him –he doesn’t care. Most times he tends to keep a very neutral/uncaring position in discussions and lets his decisions be led by facts.
* LIKES + DISLIKES[/font]
LIKES; ice cream, silence, video games, pokémon battles, his pokémon, travelling, exercise, the battle tower, training, headbands (keep that unruly hair our of his eyes), jokes, being amused, formidable opponents, competition, pokémon in general, music, chocolate chip cookies, cloudy days, cold weather, sincerity, respect, big cities, compliments (when sincere), logical people, random facts, knowing things, the occasional reading (non-fiction), cooking, exploring, getting in trouble.
DISLIKES; socializing, commitment, loosing (though he’ll admit defeat when he does), inactivity, boredom, consistency, loud people, slow pokémon (they make him go mad, though he won’t disrespect them either), possessiveness, optimism, hypocrites, lies, deceit, prejudice, snicker doodles, bland flavors (in food), alcohol (long story), fire, heat, horrendously sunny days, the beach, being stuck in one place, following orders, unfair or unjust rules, sore losers, sore winner, obsessions, television, bad news, deserts, small towns, being compared to his father.
* WEAKNESS + STRENGTHS[/font]
Despite being a serious and good trainer that doesn’t help any his sense of balance, Ruby is actually rather CLUMSY, to the point where you shouldn’t be concerned if he trip and fell every five minutes. He also tends to drop things, though amazingly enough he has never dropped his Pokedex (mostly he treats it like it could break just by looking at it too much). He also tends to be quite CREATIVE when battling, coming up with the oddest solutions to a specific problem or bind making it hard to get him stuck against a rock and a hard place. He’s also quite prepared, a GOOD TRAVELLER and excellent at planning things ahead of time and keeping tracks of things, he likes being prepared and shows it with all his almost obsessive planning, however that doesn’t mean he has a back-up plan when things go to hell, but he’s QUICK THINKING allows him to react to the situation without missing a beat. Of course he’s obsessive planning may do due to a touch of PARANOIA that he has, mostly because he has suffered from the most rotten luck he had made himself plan ahead or die trying. He can also be quite EASILY DISAPPOINTED when it comes to people, because really, most times they fail his expectations, which in turn can make him quite PESSIMISTIC.
* SKILLS[/font]
Well, might be surprising, might be not, but Ruby is actually quite a good COOK, however convincing him to make a meal for you might be a tad more than what you bargained for because the only one he seems to cook for his himself and his Pokémon. However, if caught in a good mood you might find Ruby whistling merrily and in the process of making a delicious meal. He’s also good at FITTING IN TIGHT SPACES, actually the spaces he manages to cram himself into might have you wondering if he’s a contortionist… or has bones underneath all that skin for that matter. You might not want to get Ruby angry either because you’ll find out that he has KILLER AIM and can probably break your nose if he lobs something at you (and that’s where he was aiming at, of course).

Alex – Sceptile – Male – Overgrow – Focus Sash
As his starter Pokémon (given by Professor Birch when Ruby saved him from a Poochyaena), Alex is, well, what one would expect –completely loyal and obedient to the bone, but of course he has his own personality. For one he appears to be protective of Ruby, for example if someone where to insult Ruby is Alex’s presence the Sceptile is prone to attack said person even though Ruby himself isn’t very likely to care. Alex has a temper one that even Ruby can find himself unable to control at times (or rather, too lazy to control), he’s the type to tackle anyone who sneaks into him too. As a battle Alex’s strength lies in his speed and he tends to prefer up-close and personal as his style. His signature move is Leaf Blade.
Andre – Lucario – Male – Inner Focus – Black Belt
Andre is the latest addition to Ruby’s team. How he came across the Lucario is a story that would probably shock quite a few people, you see one day as Ruby traversed from city to city he toppled against a young girl in company of a Lucario who was being harassed by a group of Mightyena, truthfully and normally Ruby would have allowed them to be eaten by the Pokémon but he was feeling in a giving mood and in the end Alex and himself helped the girl by defeating the angered Pokémon. For some reason the girl felt compelled to reward Ruby for his daring and ended up giving him an egg –from the egg thus hatched Andre. The Lucario is the quiet, secluded type of Pokemon though he understands human speech perfectly he is quite shy and mostly prefers sticking to Ruby’s side. Lately, co-op battles with Alex seem to be his specialty. His signature move is the egg move Blaze Kick.
Eris – Absol – Female – Super Luck – Brightpowder
The Absol was caught just like any other Pokémon and there’s really not a very special story behind Eris’ encounter, if anything, the only notable thing was the weather –rain was pouring in while Ruby struggled to find some sort of temporary shelter but it turned out his temporary shelter was occupied by a disgruntled Absol. Eris is proud and only listens to Ruby, sticking loyally to his side and not even an inch or two away from him. She is large for an Absol making her a tad slower than her brethren and “horn” on the side of her head is chipped in the bottom corner, a trait that she has had ever since Ruby has known her. She tends to be the all-out offensive type of gal in battle, following the “offense is the best defense” approach, making her attack her strongest base. Her signature move is Sword Dance.
Sam – Jolteon – Female – Volt Absorb – Magnet
Funny story behind Sam, Ruby first saw Sam as an Eevee –the tiny thing was caught between a hole in a wire fence and couldn’t seem to either scramble in or out. Ruby has a soft spot for Pokémon in trouble so, not considering even once how rare it was to find an Eevee in the wild he yanked the little Pokémon out and let it be on its merry way. However, instead of scampering away into the blue the Eeevee followed him for a good while being both helpful and unhelpful in the days of stalking Ruby. In the end, when someone tried catching the little fellow Ruby realized he had grown fond of the small Eevee and ended up snatching the disgruntled Pokémon away from its possible trainer and catching it himself. Originally her name was Samantha, but she seemed to dislike the name and had the tendency to not respond by it when Ruby called to her –he ended up shortening to Sam which the Eevee actually responded to. Sam had a tendency of being the ecstatic, mad, jumping, leaping and barking one of the group and she’s always dashing about. Her hyperactivity tends to get her in a lot of trouble. Her greatest attribute is speed and her signature move is Quick Attack.
Damen – Salamence – Male – Intimidate – Quick Claw
For the life of him Ruby simply cannot explain how he ended up having Damen on his team. What he thinks happened is that somehow he had managed to tick off fairly badly had wanted his hand bitten off by a small Bagon and for some reason hid the little thing in his backpack one day when he had left it alone in an inn room. However, he received the scare of his life when he unzipped his backpack when he got back from his small trip and out leaped a Bagon intent on tackling the insides out of him. He managed to subdue the angry Pokémon and for reasons unknown even to him added it to his team. Damen has a nasty temper only matched by the strength on his heavy tail and is the type of Pokemon that is wise to give a wide berth, however it seems to be quite fond of its trainer in a teasing kind of way, favoring nipping and biting Ruby in a “playful” matter. His signature move is the egg move Hydro Pump (its discovery delighted Ruby to no end).
Chevelle – Milotic – Female – Marvel Scale – Expert Belt
How could a trainer like Ruby end up with the beautiful Milotic nicknamed Chevelle? Good question and one that’s actually not that difficult to answer. Chevelle actually stumbled upon Ruby once when he was fishing, and of course he thanked the lucky stars, but the Milotic didn’t go down without a fight. In her first weeks of capture she actually put up a good fight and refused to answer to his commands –to Ruby’s great frustration. So he released her, but a few days later poachers where tracking her down which meant fair Ruby to the rescue, something in the Milotic must have endeared itself to the stubborn trainer because afterwards she came along with the rest of the team. Chevelle is probably the most haughty Pokémon you’ll ever meet and seems to think that Ruby is the only one with the divine right to even gaze at the creature, however in battle she proves to be a promising battler. Her greatest attribute is her special defense and Aqua Ring is her signature move.

* INVENTORY[/font]
Firstly, he has all those little necessaries that any trainer should have; REVIVES, FULL RESTORES, POTIONS and all other such things that may come in handy when dealing with Pokémon, like pokeballs, of course, most of them for the benefit of health in his team. As for TMs he has the tendency to keep quite a few in stock, FOCUS PUNCH, EARTHQUAKE, and FLAMETHROWER. He also has a POKEDEX in his possession, given to him by Professor Birch. Oh, and of course he has all of the HOENN BADGES.
