- CARING: While it may sometimes seem like he's in too much of a hurry to worry about much, Pearl is actually very caring. He adores his Pokemon above all else, always making sure that they are well and happy. He's also like this with his friends or people that he is close with, although he isn't too eager to show it that often.
- FRIENDLY: Perhaps overly friendly would be correct. He's always making a new friend wherever he travels. He's open-minded and isn't afraid to start conversation, however irrelevant it might be to the topic at hand.
- FEARLESS: There is very little he is afraid of. When a challenge arises, he will step up and accept it without hesitation. He's always putting fear aside to get the job done, whatever that may be.
- OPTIMISTIC: Pearl's always looking to the bright side of things, even if it may seem hopeless. He's sure that no matter what happens, good will always triumph above evil and he's out there to prove it to everyone.
- STRONG: There is little next to nothing that can keep Pearl down for long. When he's defeated, he gets right back up and tries again. At first, he was quite weak but as he traveled and battled more, he became stronger and stronger.
* PERSONALITY (-)[/font]
- IMPATIENT: One of Pearl's most obvious traits is his impatience. He doesn't like to wait for almost anything, especially battles he's been anticipating for a long time.
- TROUBLE-PRONE: Trouble seems to find him no matter where he goes. He's sort of like a magnet for problems and issues. Most of the time he sneaks out of them, but another one comes up quickly.
- BOSSY: It's not that Pearl enjoys bossing people around, he just sort of does it naturally and doesn't think much of it. He likes telling people what to do when they're in a sticky situation, even though he should be telling himself.
- COMPETITIVE: It's a trait that's been in him since he first heard of battling. Before that, he was a tad bit competitive when it came to other things, but it really became dominant when he began to be interested in Pokemon battles.
- EASILY ANGERED: As awful as it is, he's easily angered if things don't go the way he imagined them to. Of course, he usually gets over it quickly, but while his anger lasts, he can be a bit nasty.

TANK
Tank was obtained as a Turtwig at Lake Verity when Pearl and Platinum were attacked by a wild Starly while searching for the lake's guardian. When they saw the brief case that Professor Rowan left behind, he immediately reached for Tank's pokeball. Tank is a bit mischievous and causes Pearl a little trouble every now and then, not much more than he gets into himself. When he's upset with Pearl, he won't listen and will often turn around and attack Pearl himself. Still, he is Pearl's most used Pokemon and in many ways, one of his best friends.
HAWK
Pearl became friends with Hawk when he was a wild Starly after he healed his injured claws. After that, Hawk appeared to Pearl later on, wanting to join his team. Pearl gratefully accepted and officially captured him. After their first battle together, he evolved into a Staravia and not long after, a Staraptor. He is an excellent battler, obedient and wary of what he is doing. He listens to Pearl brilliantly and never seems to be phased by much.
ZERO
Pearl caught this rather angry Floatzel when he was fishing one quiet afternoon. Rather unexpectedly, he managed to capture him after a long, hard battle with Tank. Even though it has been a fair while since he caught Zero, he is still bitter towards Pearl for some odd reason and rarely listens to his commands, preferring to instead attack him instead of an enemy Pokemon.
COMET
Comet was a gift from Pearl's father, Palmer, when he was on his travels. When he got her as a Ponyta, she was rather lazy and didn't like to battle. As she evolved, she became more and more interested in battling. She's tough to take down because she simply refuses to give up. She's stubborn, which can sometimes make switching her in battle difficult. She's very affectionate towards Pearl, though, and loves to charge him down.
EDGE
Pearl caught Edge in the wild. At first, he seemed to despise every fibre in Pearl's body. But after Pearl saved him, he became a little attached to him. It's easy to say that of all Pearl's Pokemon, Edge is the most affectionate. He loves to hug Pearl to the point of suffocation after they've won a battle or simply for the heck of it. In battle, he's quite fierce and listens well.
SNOOZER
Snoozer was given to Pearl as an egg by a traveler. Unsure of what was to hatch, he cared for the egg tenderly. When a hungry Munchlax hatched, Pearl was overwhelmed and suddenly out of food. After a tough gym battle, Snoozer evolved into a Snorlax. He is still somewhat inexperienced in battle, but he's beginning to get the hang of it. He's quiet and prefers to sit around more than anything.
