"How can something with no hands be so annoying?" Kolo snapped at the pesky Azurill bounding alongside him. He knew he should be used to the ball of blubber by now, but everytime he glanced down at it, he couldn't help but have an overwhelming feeling of wanting to defenstrate the nuisance out of a five-hundred story building. His temper bubbled inside of him as he watched the Azurill bounce around, occasionally tripping on her tail because she hadn't fully discovered how to deal with the proportions of her body yet. The thing was just so stupid, yet it radiated so much...happiness. Ugh, how annoying. Why did Kolo have to get stuck with the world's most aggravating creature ever? In fact, if he was demanding answers, he might as well question why he had the world's weirdest combination of Pokemon. He had a Vulpix who thought she owned Kolo and drove his whole team crazy with her prima donna attitude. His Dratini could actually be the strongest Pokemon on his team if he wasn't always being intimidated by Kolo's stuck-up Vulpix. And then, there was his Cubone with a heck-of-a-defense, but who rarely admitted Kolo as his trainer unless they were battling.
As if she could read his thoughts, Vay popped out of her Pokeball and leaped into Kolo's arms. Staring down into the fire fox's large chocolate eyes, the Pokemon trainer realized the answer to his own question: because they meant the world to him and he meant the world to them. After all, who else could love a bunch of eccentric Pokemon like his team besides himself? "Argh!"
Kolo's face split into a small grin and he stood up to tell Vay that everything was okay. He always managed to forgive Vay- she just had that "charm" about her. "Vay, where'd you go?" Kolo called out, confused at the fox's sudden disappearance. In fact, Azurill had vanished as well. Good riddance. Not that Kolo expected Azurill to be gone long. No matter what Kolo did, that damn Azurill always succeeded in finding her way back to him. Even through Vay's harsh abuse, Azurill endured it all and stuck by Kolo's side. Geez, talk about clingy. Well, the trainer knew he wouldn't have to deal with Azurill forever: one day, the blue blubber would do something that would really drive Vay insane enough to force her to kill the baby Pokemon. Or maybe not. Although his Vulpix tried to conceal it well, Kolo knew that Vay had a soft side. If not, she would've probably murdered Azurill ages ago.
Kolo followed his instincts and trudged through the grass until he reached the waters near the Pokemart he worked at. His shift would start soon, so he would have to find his Pokemon quickly. Luckily, he found the two circling each other next to the crystal clear waters. Well, more like Vay circling Azurill as Azurill bounced around blissfully, not knowing what was about to happen. Kolo could stop Vay, but...he knew Vay would never rest until she got her revenge. Sighing, Kolo plopped down where he would be too far to be hit but could still keep a wary eye on the two. Left unsupervised, deep shit would really go down, and as much as Kolo wanted to rid of Azurill, he knew it wouldn't look so appealing to the public if they saw a true murder happen before their eyes. Hell, he might even get fired from his job because of it, and God knew how much he needed that job. Although he was a trainer, he was an incredibly terrible one. All his battles could be called "attempts," instead of actual battles.
Kolo gazed at the aquamarine waters, letting his thoughts collide with each other and become mush. He loved this time of day where he could be alone with his Pokemon without anyone interfering. The seventeen-year-old really had a strong awkwardness around humans, especially the pretty ones of the opposite sex. He fingered the Pokeballs on his belt and pondered whether or not he should release them. Vay might really be overcome with rage if she saw Hart, and he knew she was already in a crappy mood because of Azurill. And Cailas would give him an intense scolding for letting him out, when everybody knew he much preferred to stay in his Pokeball. Still, did he risk it?
"Aw, what the heck, you guys deserve some fresh air too." With that said, Kolo tossed the remaining Pokeballs lightly into the air and watched as the red glows slowly molded themselves into the silhouettes of his Pokemon. Cailas gave his trainer a stern scolding before retreating to the shade of a tree, while Hart nervously glanced at Vay and then Kolo. Seeing that the brownish-red fox was occupied with another victim, the Dratini silently settled himself next to Kolo. Kolo instinctively laid a hand on Dratini's head and stroked it with content. He knew Vay's jealousy would cause her to attack Hart soon (and he was sure Hart was aware of this too), but until then, he might as well let the shy Pokemon enjoy all the attention he could get.
"What will I ever do with you guys?" Kolo murmured and let the morning sun shine down on him and his team.
