Vortex sighed –battles weren’t really his thing but after much nagging from Azelf’s part he relented and decided to go ahead and have a battle or two with him –after all it was all in good fun, or so he told himself as he surveyed the arena. It was your basic dirt arena with white lines and circles marking the limits and where each trainer should stand. Grass dotted the length of it, sprouting where it really shouldn’t –probably so it would soften the blow if a Pokémon crashed against it. His eyes roamed the length of it –the people cheering and whistling in their seats, the sunlight filtering through the gaping opening in the ceiling. The Whisper Keeper drew in a careful breath –he hated that feeling, the one of being watched, he would rather prefer a nice private battle with only the dust motes as his only witness, but alas, wishes couldn’t come true so easily.
“Okay,” he said more to himself than anyone else, just needing to hear a sane word in all the cacophony –Arceus claws dug to his back and he knew the Kecleon was eager to gets thing started. The reptilian wasn’t much for battles either but it was impatient, no matter what they were waiting for.
He squinted at his opponent –but didn’t really concentrate on the features, he just needed something to take his mind off things, of course he was stalling too, and that couldn’t hurt. Stalling time, over, he thought and reached for a typical red and white Pokeball. “Azelf, let’s go!” he called, red light bursting from the device and slowly turning into a recognizable shape. A Scyther shook itself free from the light as if it was water clinging to its back and gingerly turned its eyes towards its opponent, its muscles bunching underneath it was it prepared to move. Now Vortex just needed a second Pokémon, however before he could think he felt claws digging into his back with a strength that was sure to draw blood and a second later Arceus leaped from his back landing on its four legs on the ground just before him and quickly kicking its back legs to surge forward pausing only when it was next to the Scyther, scrambling to a stand and stretching its arms experimentally at its side.
Certainly not the kind of team he envisioned –he figured he would have the Trapinch, Groudon, teamed up with the Scyther but, at least, these two knew how to behave and what to expect of the other. He shook his head slowly –holding back a smirk at his Kecleon’s recklessness, was it really that desperate for a battle? But he needed to pay more attention to the battle and thus he lifted his eyes to see whom exactly his opponent was…

Oliver watched from the shadows as he opponent walked onto the field. He narrowed his eyes just a tad and scratched at the bottom of his chin. This guy seemed oddly normally Oliver figured in his head. Judging from the pokemon he carried on his back Oliver knew easily that he wasn't anything more then a trainer. The Azelf replica shrugged his shoulders and let out an uninterested sigh. Somehow he didn't think this was going to be that fun. He simple took off his coat and walked out of the opening, entering the arena.
"You know, that piece of shit right there." he said as he walked out, using his gloved left hand to point out the green Scyther. He shook his head slowly, drawing just a little time to let his insult sink in. He heard him summon him, clear disbelief at first. How could a trainer like him have an Azelf, when Oliver was the Azelf replica. It confused him, but he didn't act surprised when he saw the Scyther. This kid just wanted to act tough. Well Oliver could do that too. "Doesn't deserve the name Azelf." he shrugged before starting to get a slight purple hue envelope his body. His once brown eyes soon turned into deep, purple orbs. A similar effect started to happen to Azelf Vort's Scyther.
"It disgraces me." he sighed lifting his hand slowly in the air. A desired effect would be for the Scyther to lift up, and maybe freak out Vort a little. A simple little human performing a confusion spell. It was the azelf blood that flood through him. Oliver was a damn guard for Heart for a good reason. Tactics and hand to hand combat was his area of expertise though, he wouldn't lie. A confusion here and there never hurt to show off though. "Now get the piece of shit out of my eye sight." he added, just a little angry. He swiftly sliced his arm though the air, mimicking a throwing movement. The movement aimed directly at Vort's other pokemon, Arceus.
MOVES: confusion OOC: I really hate that move, because it is like powerplaying. don't steal oli's name <3

He would be lying if he said he wasn’t slightly taken aback when the man walked in straight to the arena after dumping his coat. He had known the concept of a replica his whole life, don’t get him wrong but he thought it a bit unfair to pit two Pokémon against one of them simply because they had all the powers of their origin. But his moment of pity for the other couldn’t have lasted more than half a second and not because the guy seemed like he was about to eat someone’s face, but simply because Vortex didn’t have much feelings to spare over others –he needed to turn his full attention to worrying about his Scyther and Kecleon and that was all he needed at the moment, all he could deal with. But clearly the replica wanted his own feelings to be known because the man jabbed a finger towards Azelf’s direction gaining him a look of confusion from six pairs of eyes before what he said sunk in. "You know, that piece of shit right there,” he said, gaining a snarl from Azelf’s part, the Scyther’s eyes narrowed and for a minute Vortex wondered if it was just going to recklessly charge ahead –knowing full well that wasn’t the Scyther’s style but he needn’t doubt because before the man finished his sentence it had already gained composure of itself "Doesn't deserve the name Azelf."
Vortex arched a brow but the man simply shrugged "It disgraces me," he explained. Well, that was a nice piece of info there, but as far as he was concerned he wasn’t asking for his opinion on what he nicknamed his Pokémon, because sure as hell his Kecleon wasn’t any kind of god or creator of the universe –he just thought he was. Still, that didn’t stop him from dubbing him Arceus and neither was complaining. His attention was forced to try out those few sentences in context, however, as a blue shimmer surrounding his opponent’s body, his eyes covered by the same blue shimmer hiding the pupils. The Whisper Keeper blinked in sudden understanding of a kind, something was nagging insistently at his mind, something that made him think he was missing an obvious piece of the puzzle but the only conclusion he could draw at the moment sounded something like: Psychic-type which was really something he would need for the battle ahead. Sure one attack didn’t mean anything but it was all he had to go on ahead –he wasn’t about to make a mental list of all Pokémon who could learn psychic-based attacks.
The Scyther was lifted into the air and he was quite surprised to see it didn’t panic and trashed about since, pretty much you had no choice when you didn’t have ground under your feet. He saw what was coming half a second before it happened so he barely had time to bark out “Dodge it!” to Arceus, who would have dodged the attack anyway. However the alarm on his trainer’s voice implied something else. Azelf crashed on the ground right where the Kecleon had been a cloud of dust lifting up from the force behind that throw and Vortex couldn’t help but wince. The Scyther however seemed hardly fazed (or tried very hard not to) as it scrambled to a stand –keeping its eyes on its opponent and Vortex had the sudden imaginings of seeing the Scyther exclaim “Bitch, Imma cut ya!” Humor bubbled up within him, but he tried very hard not to show it –instead presenting an amused smile as the Scyther stood. “Sword Dance” he commanded. The Scyther’s arms were covered with a purple sheen that soon cleared out to reveal sharper blades –the sunlight glinted off of them a bit more savagely than before.
Arceus, on his side of the field, was following other plans. As the cloud of dust kicked up it did what any Kecleon could do best and adopted the color of everything around it, quietly but gingerly moving towards his opponent –both his trainer and himself coming to the conclusion that this guy A) didn’t like hearing Pokémon named after other Pokémon, B) If he was so pissed because of the harmless name ‘Azelf’ it could only mean one possible thing. Still, that conclusion still had a big shiny question mark besides it but if this really was Azelf not only was it a bit stronger then what the pair had originally thought of but he was a Psychic-type and the Kecleon had a wide arrange of moves that would at least assure the replica would be harmed before Azelf and himself were down for the count. He made his way behind the replica –making sure to keep from drawing his attention an invisible little smirk tugging at his lips. Just when he was behind the replica he prepared his attack –not needing command from his trainer to know what he had in mind. Arceus launched a Sucker Punch attack towards the back of the replica’s legs –the idea was to knock his legs from under him and see how he dealt with that.
OOC: mwahaha Vort should take his battles more srsly. Besides he steals everything <3

You could see that the Azelf replica wasn't paying any attention to the Kecleon at all. It isn't like he didn't think that beast was a threat, it was quiet the opposite. With all the dark moves that the Kecleon had Oliver figured that it would be a force to fight with. Maybe he would save it for the last part of the battle, finishing off the Scyther, then taking on the kecleon. Instead of watching the Scyther sharpen it's claws, probably pissed because of the whole name thing, Oliver should have paid attention to the disappearing act of the kecleon.
He might have been a little on edge then, maybe would have heard the Kecleon walk up behind him, because he sure as hell couldn't see it. So you could say that when the Kecleon hit him, not only was it it super effective but it was also a very unexpected attack. The force of the blow knocked his knee in, sending him falling towards the ground untop of the invisible pokemon. Being the strong replica he is though, he managed to focus just enough power to aim a swift at where he figured the Kecleon was before falling directly on his ass.
Even if the swift didn't hit, it sure did send up enough dust from the ground of the battle field. Oliver closed his eyes, pushing himself off the ground with one of his gloved hands as dust started to raise above him. He placed one hand over his mouth and his dark brown eyes looked around. The only option he though of would be to shower the whole arena with a swift. The odds of hitting both of the pokemon were great that way. He only needed a way to get above the battle field. If he was high enough the kecleon couldn't do much and he could shoot down the Scyther before it even got close. "OH well." he shrugged before shooting another ray of stars through the dust and towards where the group use to be.
MOVES: swift x2 OOC: abi is a better thief <3

Both Azefls looked pissed, they just looked about ready to tear the other down –Vortex could only think as he watched the Scyther glare down at his opponent as he sharpened his blades. He was trying very hard not to look wildly around the arena in search of Arceus knowing that doing that would be a dead giveaway to the replica that his opponent was up to no good. Azelf seemed to think along the same lines too because it simply kept glaring straight ahead as if it would sprout laser beams from its eyes and bring the replica down where it stood –dead because of a glare, but of course the replica didn’t, he simply stood there glowering back and Vortex was partly grateful that he wasn’t being glared at –considering it wasn’t the Scyther’s fault his trainer decided it should be nicknamed Azelf, in fact, he found the whole thing quite amusing –but his thoughts were made to scatter like panicking roaches when Arceus attacked.
It was a direct hit with a Sucker Punch and he was pleased to note that the replica really didn’t expect that. He toppled over, almost pinning Arceus down, but the slippery lizard could be quick when he wanted and he messily scrambled away before the man could have any firm hold on him, of course his mind didn’t go as far back as to think that his opponent wouldn’t grab him but rather shoot a ray of stars at him so it was that while his claws scrambled on earth to get away quicker the stars hit him squarely in the back and sent him spiraling forward and crashing against the earth –he could only be grateful that the full force of the attack hadn’t hit him since the replica hadn’t really aimed all that well and he had been moving –most of the stars barricaded against the earth sending huge clouds of dust to spiral forward and cover the arena in a makeshift smokescreen.
“Calm down,” Vortex whispered to Azelf –he had suddenly let out a hiss of frustration when he lost sight of his opponent and it wouldn’t do to take this battle seriously. That was Azelf’s problem –to him battling a strong opponent was heaven and it had to be taken seriously. To Arceus and Vortex… not so much.
The Kecleon would be lying if he said he expected the next barrage of stars, but, damn it, no one could say he wasn’t prepared. It jogged away from the Azelf, giving him more space because the reptile knew he wouldn’t just wait for the dust to settle back down, which was fine by him –but he wasn’t about to stick nearby to wait till the replica got his greasy hands on him. So when he started hearing little crashes of starts against the hard floor coming closer the first thing he did was meld into the shadows. It became one with the shadows of a grass stalk behind him and there in sunk downward and reached for the shadow he knew would belong to the replica –a large one, similar in shape to that of a human but heavier than the shadow of his trainer. It easily found it and if the Azelf replica would have craned his head around yet still stood still so as to not move his shadow he would have noticed two beady black eyes looking up at him. But as far as the Kecleon was concerned he didn’t and, besides, he barely gave him time to look the Kecleon leaped forward –the shadows still clinging to it in fine whips and its claws at the Azelf replica’s back, attempting to aim yet another super effective move before trying to slink back into the shadows.
The Scyther spotted his opponent as the dust cleared and so did Vortex. “X-Scissor!” the trainer commanded and Azelf wasted no time in obeying –his blades shimmered green and it leaped towards the replica just after the Kecleon attempted a Shadow Sneak.
OOC: You wish! I like how Arceus is perhaps the most disobedient of Vortex’s Pokémon yet they’re the closest…
Arceus; Sucker Punch, Shadow Sneak /two moves to go~ Azelf; Sword Dance, X-Scissor /two moves to go~
